My Shed Journey
I was thinking about joining the shed for some time, buy I was going to wait until I retired. Then I thought, what are you waiting and decided to go to the shed and see what it was all about. It was a good decision. I really enjoy the friendly environment at the shed, working together with friends on joint projects is fun and rewarding.
I really enjoy our event days when we head out on site to run one of our Making Workshops. During these workshops we help kids to get involved in making activities. It is so nice to see the joy of making in their little faces.
I currently have some special roles at the Shed, these help me because they allow me to use some of the skills I have developed in the workplace. In particular my role of Event Organiser helps keep my mind active, focused on liaising with event organiser and making sure the shed has everything in place for a successful events.
Inspired By The Oldies
Like many people, my contact with the older generation was limited to close relatives. We have a wide age ranges of Shedders with some members in their late seventies an eighties, these guys are amazing. They are living proof of just how much good showing up and taking part, and being part of a community can be for you. I am very pleased to consider these guys my friends.
If you are thinking of joining the Men's Shed my advice would be 'GO FOR IT', what have you got to lose?
See you later
