My Shed Journey

My late husband Ian (pictured below) was a very creative person who used to tour schools doing puppet shows with his handmade puppets. Unfortunately in 2017 he was diagnosed with Dementia. Inevitably, the disease progressed and Ian had to give up his career and was starting to become more and more isolated.

Ian started attending the shed which was a real lifeline for him allowing him to utilise his creative skills again, meet new people and make new friends. Later, as his disease progressed  Ian said he would prefer me to stay with him at the shed. That's when I started helping outin the kitchen, making drinks etc.

Sadly, Ian past away in 2022 from Covid 19 complicated by Pneumonia. It was a tough time but attending the shed helped me through it. The support I received from the good friends we had made together at the shed was invaluable.

Fast forward to 2025, I am Head Chef & Tea Lady, in charge of the Bacon and Sausage sandwiches. The shed is a lovely place where I meet lots of people and learn about their lives. If a shedder needs to chat to someone I am here for them, except on Saturdays from 11:30 until 12:30 leading up to feeding time at the shed when I am rather busy meeting the demands of lots of hungry hungry shedders.
